About Oral Conscious Sedation
Dynamic Dental Orthodontics & Implants offers a mid-level sedation option called “oral conscious sedation.” This method uses a medication that you take by mouth just prior to your scheduled procedure. Within a short period of time, you’ll feel as if you’re dozing off. However, you’ll still be partially aware of what’s going on around you enough to answer simple questions or communicate with our team. It’s almost as if you’re taking a light nap. In most cases, the amnesic effects of the sedative also prevent you from remembering much about your appointment.
Oral sedation can cause drowsiness for up to a few hours, so it’s important that you have a trusted friend or family member accompany you to the appointment.
Is Sedation Safe?
Absolutely. Oral conscious sedation is a mid-level sedation service that is safe and effective for people of all ages. Our providers will conduct a thorough medical review on each patient to ensure there are no risk factors or medications that could be concerning. Always be sure to communicate your health history with us, so that we can recommend the best type of sedative for your specific needs.
