The 3Shape intraoral digital scanner has quickly become a patient and doctor favorite in our office. So, what exactly is it, and how is it used? An intraoral digital scanner is a small handheld device that looks like a small wand and contains a digital camera on the end of it. Our dentist will hold the device and comfortably move it around the patient's mouth to scan their teeth and gums without prompting the gag reflex. The scanner connects to a computer where instantly, a 3D image of your mouth is created for viewing.
This means no more messy, goopy impressions! The scanner allows us to create a more comfortable experience for our patients and is quicker and more accurate than traditional impression molds.
